TracNet®

A hybrid marine communications system is a solution designed to provide vessels with continuous, reliable connectivity by combining multiple network technologies into one integrated platform. These systems typically merge satellite communications with cellular and Wi-Fi connections, allowing the vessel to automatically switch between networks based on availability, cost, and performance. This approach ensures that users have the fastest and most cost-effective link at any given time, whether they are offshore relying on satellite or near shore using cellular or marina Wi-Fi. Hybrid systems also include intelligent routing, bandwidth management, and security features to optimize data usage and protect onboard networks. The goal is to deliver seamless global connectivity for navigation, operations, crew welfare, and passenger services without manual intervention.
