George Deutsch founded Del Mar Electronics in October of 1986.  At the time, he was working for a small company in Port Neches, TX by the name of DEG Electronics. He later bought out the assets from DEG Electronics and started Del Mar Electronics on Port Neches Ave in Port Neches, TX, only blocks from where the company currently operates today.

It was Texaco that gave George and Del Mar Electronics its real start, with their 27 domestic fleet and later their international fleet.  He covered both the East and West Coast of the US, as well as the coastline around the Gulf of Mexico.  As needed, Del Mar Electronics would service their international fleet in Europe.  As time went by, several other oil companies requested the services of George and Del Mar Electronics

Most of the initial work with Del Mar Electronics started with radars, collision avoidance systems, as well as loran, satellite navigation, and communications all before the development of GMDSS and current satellite communications.  While GPS and GMDSS began in the 90's, George installed some of the first systems ever installed on US vessels.  As they were developed, George also installed the first satellite communications and navigation systems.  He also set up land based communications for BP throughout Africa.

It was at this time George began working on government managed MARAD and MSC fleets throughout the United States, installing and servicing both communication and navigation systems.  This work included GMDSS, Radar Systems, ECDIS, AIS, BNWAS, Gyro, alarm systems, and steering systems.  George obtained a high Seas Furuno Dealership in the beginning of his career, which carries on with Del Mar Electronics, LLC today.  After 40 years in the field, George works mostly in house today as primary technical support.  George is still involved in all special projects and attends vessels in this capacity as needed and provides invaluable technical  support to all of our customers.
